Try your hand at throwing a clay pot on the potter's wheel. This 15 minute 1 to 1 tuition with potter Jo Davies (www.jo-davies.com) will give you an insight into wheel thrown ceramics and a pot to take away at the end of the session.

Jo Davies is a London based ceramicist, her freelance practice includes designing and making, writing for Ceramic Review and curating. She has been based at the Chocolate Factory Studios in Stoke Newington since graduating from the Royal College of Art in 2007.

Rooftop Talk on Clerkenwell History

Celebrate Clerkenwell Design Week and experience the wonderful views of the city from the rooftop of Craft Central’s historic Victorian building in the heart of Clerkenwell. Discover the area’s fascinating history, insightfully delivered by London Historian and designer maker, Jane Young.

Jane will commence with a brief outline of Early Modern history in Clerkenwell to illustrate how the area became established. Continuing with its development as a residential and then later industrial area during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, populated with artisan trades, detailing famous residents and noteworthy buildings. Concluding with an outline of how Clerkenwell has transformed into the design district it is now with reference to the establishment of the Clerkenwell Green Association and later Craft Central.

Duration approximately one hour with time afterward for questions and discussion.

Screen printer and Surface Pattern Designer Laura Felicity (www.laurafelicity.co.uk), along with fellow Screen printer of Homewares and Gifts Lucie Pritchard (www.luciepritchard.co.uk) take you back to basics with three fun printing techniques which are similar to Lino and Block printing. During this lovely workshop you will be able to turn your own designed print into a Handmade Greetings Card and/or Art Print.

With lots of events around the corner, including Fathers Day, this is the perfect opportunity to create something fun and unique. Please feel free to bring along any small, flat yet textured items to the workshop that you don't mind getting inked up.
